What is it?
IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a form of laser treatment that is most commonly used for hair removal and to treat skin conditions such as scarring, thread veins, sun damage and wrinkles. An IPL treatment involves directing a beam of high intensity light at a target area for a short amount of time, to give the desired results for that area. With regards to hair removal, IPL treatments have become more popular than the original Laser Hair Removal, and are often thought of as cheaper, more effective and therefore more cost effective.
Prior to treatment the area is shaved before a thin layer of protective gel (similar to that used in ultra sound) is applied to maximise absorption. The pulsar is run over the area and a succession of light pulses is filtered into the hair follicle. The unique square head technology used offer precision and accuracy that ensures that any risk of side effects is minimal.

How it Works?
The treatment works by targeting the melanin (pigment) in the hair with the light from the system, and upon absorption the light is converted into heat. This intense heat action breaks down the hair follicle, reducing the opportunity for any re-growth and also changing the entire structure of the follicle itself; overtime altering the density and appearance of the hair until it becomes unnoticeable.. IPL hair removal works on most types of hair, although because it targets the pigment in the cells, it is more effective on people who have contrasting tones, such as black hair on fair skin. White and grey hairs are virtually impossible to treat for this reason.
